BREAKING THE LANGUAGE BARRIER IN THE GHANA PREMIER LEAGUE - THE STORY OF KOFI KORDZI

 

Accra Hearts of Oak striker, Kofi Kordzi has been in the news for the past 24 hours after his post match interview with Startimes reporter Eli Kondoh having scored two goals against Berekum Chelsea in Cape Coast.

The prolific attacker affectionately referred to as 'Aveyime Drogba' was on target on two occasions as the Phobians defeated Berekum Chelsea by two goals to nil. 

WHO IS KOFI KORDZI?

Kordzi played for Royals FC before joining Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak in January 2019, when he signed a three-year deal with the club after impressing on a two-week trial. 

He made his debut during the 2019 GFA Normalization Special Competition,on 31 March 2019, he played the full time in a 1–0 victory over Dreams FC.

On 28 April 2019, he scored his debut goal in the 78th minute of a 2–0 home victory over International Allies.

 He also scored on 5 May 2019, after scoring the final goal in a 4–0 victory over West African Football Academy.

THE HYPE SURROUNDING THE INTERVIEW 

Many sports pundits including Former editor of Kotoko Express, Jerome Otchere have expressed their excitement about the development which they say is a welcome development for the league.  

"I love this Ewe interview... Nice job", Mr Jerome Otchere wrote on his Twitter page.


The journalist who took the bold initiative to conduct the interview in the native Ghanaian language(Ewe), Eli Kondoh has also being applauded by many lovers of football including the CEO of Keta Sunset Sports, Dzidodo Adjahoe.

Mr Adjahoe wrote on his Facebook page, " This is really impressive journalism... Great job Eli Kondoh"

Kordzi will hope to continue his goalscoring exploits as Hearts take on Bechem United on Sunday afternoon, January 2, 2021 in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
