The only goal of the game was scored in the 59th minute by 24 year Bayern forward and French international, Kingsley Koman to sink the Ligue 1 Champions.

With their 1-0 win over PSG in Lisbon, Bayern successfully completed the treble by also winning the German Bundesliga and the German cup.

Thomas Mueller had a great match just like his entire season linking up with the prolific Polish finisher Robert Lewandowski who finished as Champions league top scorer this season with 15 goals.

MANCHESTER UNITED DUMPED OUT OF EUROPA LEAGUE

Europa league fallout - Julien Lopetegui knocks out Ole Gunnar Solskjaer .

Former Real Madrid and Spain manager, Julien Lopetegui masterminded a 2-1 semi-final win over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his United team.

Portuguese international Bruno Fernandes scored what has come to be known as a 'customary' penalty as Marcus Rashford was upended in the box by Diego Carlos in the 9th minute.

Sevilla had other ideas as they drew level through former Liverpool winger Suso in the 26th minute.

Experienced Argentine campaigner Ever Banega and world-cup winning midfielder Paul Pogba slugged it out in the middle of the park with some crunchy tackles flying in once in a while.

Brandon Williams, Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Mohammed El Haddadi all went into the books of the referee for various fouls.

In a game which was hotly contested, experience had a great part to play and Jesus Navas did not disappoint as one of his crosses resulted in the match winner.

Sevilla kingpin Lucas Ocampos was particularly wasteful on a couple of occasions and had to substituted for his profligacy.

The match winner was scored by Luuk de Jong in the 78th minute bringing Manchester United's run in 2019/20 the Europa League season to an end.

RAUL JIMENEZ MISSES CRUCIAL PENALTY IN WOLVES EUROPA LEAGUE LOSS

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez could not hold his nerves when it mattered most against Sevilla CF in the Europa League quarter final stage on Tuesday night.

The 29 year old striker had a glorious opportunity to add to his Europa League tally and ultimately push his team(Wolves) through to the semi-final stage of the Europa League after Adama Traore was brought down in the area having embarked on an incredible run.

The otherwise clinical finisher stepped up to take the penalty but Sevilla's Moroccan goalkeeper, Bounou saved Jimenez spot kick.

Former Real Madrid and Spain coach Julien Lopetegui paraded an experienced team with the likes of former Liverpool winger Suso, En-Nesyri, Fernando and experienced Argentine midfielder Ever Banega.

It was Sevilla who scored first and ultimately the only goal of the 2nd leg Europa League tie quarter final encounter as Ocampos netted at MSV Arena to take Lopetegui's side to the semi-final where they will clash with Machester United on 17th August, 2020.

The loss exposed the inadequacies of the Wolves team with manager Nuno Espirito Santo admitting that, "we need more players" in a bid to strengthen the squad ahead of next season.

SHAKHTAR DONETSK VERSUS FC BASEL

In the other quarter final game, Shakhtar Donestk defeated Swiss side FC Basel 4-1.

The stars of the show were Marlos and Taison who himself netted in the 22nd minute with the other goals coming from Moraes in the 2nd minute, Alan Patrick penalty in the 75th with Dodo completing the tally in the 88th minute.

There was a consolation for FC BASEL as Wolfswinkel netted in injury time to save the face of his team mates.

WHAT NEXT ?

The semi-finals come off on Sunday, 16th August and Monday, 17th August as Sevilla locks horns with Manchester United with Inter Milan battling it out with Shakhtar Donestk respectively.

ARTETA PROUD OF HIS GUNNERS

Mikel Arteta couldn’t hide his pride after Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 to seal the 2020 FA Cup; his first silverware as a coach and our 14th success in the competition.

Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the Gunners hero on the day, scoring from the penalty spot to cancel out Christian Pulisic’s early opener and then dinking a winner over Willy Caballero on 67 minutes.

After the match, Arteta praised the attitude of his players and reiterated just how important a win it was.

Here’s what he said when he faced the BBC cameras…

On the performance…

We went behind but reacted straight away, we probably played the best 30 minutes [of football] since I arrived. We equalised, we got the goal and we generated belief. In the second half, we talked about being so close to winning this trophy. Everybody worked so incredibly hard. I am so proud to represent these players and this club.

On qualifying for Europe…

It’s a double reward for us, it’s really important for this club in every way to be in Europe. We’ve done it through this competition, winning it. It’s part of our history, that’s 14 now. We all contributed, we all did it. I’m so happy.

On Aubameyang…

He knows what I think about him, I want to build the squad around him. I think he wants to stay. It’s about getting the deal done. I think moments like that will help him to realise and to believe that we are on the right path. He’s a big part of it, he’s loved by everybody at the club. Hopefully, he can continue with us. I think he will.

On the Community Shield being in 28 days time…

Give me a break! We’ve played every two and a half days, you can see the injuries that are happening during the games. The players were completely knackered. They made a massive effort to be fit through the coronavirus [lockdown] and when you work so hard you get your reward. I’m so happy for them.
